Abstract

This study aims to answer the focus of research on the perception of the people of Kotobaru Village, Singingi Hilir District on the Covid-19 hoax news on Facebook social media. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. The procedure in this research is to determine the research focus, research implementation, instruments, data analysis and research results. The data collection technique used by the researcher was obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis technique used in this research is using triangulation technique. The results of research conducted in the field show that the perception of the Kotobaru Village Community, Singingi Hilir District, on the Covid-19 Hoax News on Facebook Social Media consists of positive perceptions and negative perceptions. The public's positive perception of Covid-19 news on Facebook Social Media is that people find it very helpful to get information related to Covid-1. The public's negative perception of Covid-19 news on Facebook Social Media is that there are some people who feel they don't believe the news that is spread on Facebook Social Media.
