Abstract

Every child has a different ability to absorb language. When a child is 2 years old, a lot of developments are shown by the child, one of which is the development of language. Children start language by saying a word (or part of a word). This word, for the child is actually a full sentence, but since he can't say more than one word yet, he just picks up one word and the whole sentence. This study examines the acquisition of syntax for two-year-old children (Khasus Shipa) in Selat Guntung Village, Sabak Auh District, Siak Regency, namely one-word utterances, two-word utterances, interrogative forms and imperative forms. The problems in this study, (1) How is the acquisition of the syntax of two year old children (Khasus Shipa) in Selat Guntung Village, Sabak Auh District, Siak Regency?, (2) What is the interrogative form of two year old children (Khasus Shipa) in Selat Guntung Village, Sabak District Auh, Siak Regency?, (3) What is the imperative form of a two-year-old child (Khasus Shipa) in Selat Guntung Village, Sabak Auh District, Siak Regency?. The method that the researcher uses in this research is a descriptive method which describes what is based on facts, and the approach used in this research is a qualitative approach. While the techniques that the researchers used in this study were the recording technique, the conversational engagement listening technique, the fishing rod technique, and the note-taking technique. Based on the results of this study, the syntactic acquisition of two year olds in one-word utterances contained 55 data, two-word utterances contained 32 data, three-word utterances 4 data, four-word utterances 2 data, five-word utterances 1 data, while interrogative utterances contained 12 data and imperative utterances there are 4 data. The results of this study can be concluded that the acquisition of two-year-old children's syntax (Shipa's case), in one-word utterances, two-word utterances, interrogative forms and imperative forms in general, is still categorized as imperfect. The utterance is not perfect because there is a lot of summarization in the words.
