Abstract

The development of science and technology is quite sophisticated at this time, many people misuse the technology, one of which is by committing the crime of falsifying motorized vehicle registration numbers (STNK). This STNK falsification is carried out for personal gain without considering the risks that will be faced. The crime of forgery of letters is regulated in the Criminal Code in Book II Chapter XII Article 263 concerning Counterfeiting of Letters. In the Tampan Police area, there was a criminal case of STNK falsification that occurred in 2020, where in previous years there were no cases of STNK falsification. The case of STNK falsification that occurred at the Tampan Sector Police with 1 perpetrator. The main problems in this study are what are the factors of the occurrence of the crime of forgery of motorized vehicle registration certificates in the Tampan Police Sector Legal Area, how the modus operandi of the perpetrators of the crime of counterfeiting motorized vehicle registration certificates in the jurisdiction of the Tampan police sector and how the Tampan sector police are trying to deal with the perpetrators Criminal Acts of Counterfeiting Motorized Vehicle Numbers in the Legal Territory of the Tampan Police Sector. Judging from the type of research, this research is observational research, namely by direct survey of the field to obtain the data needed to be used as material for scientific studies, while the nature of this research is descriptive, which describes in detail the factors that cause STNK falsification at the Tampan Police, the modus operandi of the perpetrators of STNK counterfeiting at the Tampan Police Sector, and the efforts of the police to counteract the STNK counterfeiting at the Tampan Police Sector. The results showed that the factor of the occurrence of the crime of falsifying STNK in the legal area of the Tampan Police Sector was an economic factor, because it collided with the necessities of life. Environmental factors that cause the perpetrator to be influenced by a friend's order to commit this crime. Technological factors with technological sophistication that can make it easier for perpetrators to commit criminal acts of STNK counterfeiting. The modus operandi of the perpetrators of the crime of counterfeiting motorized vehicle registration numbers in the Tampan Police Sector Law is that the perpetrator is ordered by someone else and the perpetrator can obtain electronic devices to print the fake STNK in an easy and cheap way. The Efforts of the Handsome Sector Police in Dealing with the Criminal Acts of STNK Counterfeiting in the Legal Area of the Handsome Police Sector are by conducting investigations and investigations against the perpetrators of STNK counterfeiting. The police checked the STNK and the same vehicle.
