Abstract

The research that the author has done is entitled Redundancy Analysis in the Latest Online News Kuansing Kuantan Singingi Regency. The importance of this issue is examined to determine redundancy in the online news Kuansing Terkini that is read by the Kuantan Singingi community in general. The formulation of the problem in this research is: how is the redundancy in the online news Kuansing Terkini Kuantan Singingi Regency? The objectives of this study are: to describe, analyze, and interpret redundancy in the latest Kuansing online news. This type of research is library research (library research). The theory that the writer uses is the theory put forward by Abdul Chaer 2014. For example, the sentence "Mr. President wears a red shirt", the use of colored words in that sentence is redundancy. The meaning of this sentence will not change if it is said "the president is wearing a red shirt". The method used in this research is content analysis method. Data collection techniques used in this research are documentation techniques and hermeneutic techniques. Data analysis techniques used data reduction, exposure, and drawing conclusions. The results of data analysis in this study found 41 redundancy data from 246 data sources. The conclusion of this research is that in the March 2020 edition of Kuantan Singingi Online Kuansing News, errors are still found at the semantic level, namely in the relation of meaning, especially the problem of using redundancy. There were 11 redundancies found from 62 data sources in the March edition, the most redundancy found in the April 2020 edition was 17 data from 70 data sources, the least redundancy was found in the May 2020 edition, namely 3 data from 59 data sources, and The June 2020 edition of redundancy found 10 data from 55 data sources. The most common data found are words that have the same meaning but have different writing and spelling, such as anticipation and prevention. The same verb but have different writing and spelling, such as agenda and activities. The same adjective but different writing and spelling, such as peace and harmony. Reducing the use of conjunctions, such as the word by, to highlight the agentive meaning.
