Abstract

An important thing in human life is health, we will be able to enjoy the beauty of life with a healthy body. Misperception of body image in the form of feeling unhappy and dissatisfied with their physical appearance caused by the gap between current physical appearance and body image that is considered ideal, namely body dissatisfaction. Regulate the pattern of food, drink and physical activity to lose weight, namely diet behavior. This study aims to determine the relationship between body dissatisfaction and dietary behavior in Riau Islamic University students. The sample of this research is the students of the Islamic University of Riau as many as 26,484 people. The data collection process used a dietary behavior scale developed by the researchers themselves and a body dissatisfaction scale developed by the researchers themselves. The sampling technique used in this research is simple random sampling with 394 subjects. While the statistical analysis used in this study is using SPSS version 21.0 for windows. The results showed that there was a relationship between body dissatisfaction and dietary behavior with p value = 0.000 (p < 0.05) and the correlation value obtained was 0.353 (R). This shows that there is a large relationship between body fissatisfaction and dietary behavior in Riau Islamic University students. Based on this, the hypothesis in this study is accepted.
