Abstract

The Riau provincial government is making serious efforts, both from the aspect of ensuring the availability and affordability of food ingredients, as well as guaranteeing the distribution system. The aims of this study were to: (1) analyze the characteristics of farmers, farm profiles and institutional profiles of farmer groups in Rokan IV Koto District, Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau Province (2) analyze lowland rice farming and (3) analyze differences in costs, productivity, income, and income. Farming efficiency of lowland rice farmers in beginner and advanced ability classes in Rokan IV Koto District, Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau Province. The research was conducted in Rokan IV Koto District, Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau Province. The research method used is a survey method. The research was conducted on March 7-15 March in the District of Rokan IV Koto. The number of samples taken were 20 beginner class farmers and 20 advanced farmers using the stratified random sampling technique. The sources of data used are primary data obtained from direct interviews with farmers and secondary data obtained from research supporting institutions which include: Agricultural Extension Agency, Rokan IV Koto sub-district office, Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau Province. The data analysis technique used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative using SPSS. The theoretical basis used is derived from previous research, journals, books, the Al-Qur’an, and hadith. Based on the data analysis conducted, the total cost of rice farming for the beginner class was Rp. 2,596,846.14, - with a production of 1005.4 Kg/Cultivation/MT. The gross income of beginner class farmers is Rp. 5,027,000,- Cultivation/MT and net income is Rp. 2,423.919,- Cultivation/MT. Efficiency in the beginner class of lowland rice farming is 1.93. The total cost of the Advanced class of lowland rice farming is Rp. 3,630,568,1, - with a production of 1,133,75 Kg/Cultivation/MT. The gross income of advanced class farmers is Rp. 5,668,750, and net income is Rp. 2,038,181,9,- The efficiency of farming in the Advanced class is 1.56. There is no significant difference in the production, production costs, income, and efficiency of beginner and advanced lowland rice in Rokan IV Koto District at a significant level of 5%, while net income and efficiency there is a significant difference at 10%.
