Abstract

In an oil or gas well drilling operation,a pumping system is needed which aims to inject drilling mud into a well. The drilling mud is an important factor in drilling , drilling speed ,safety efficiency and drilling costs are very dependent on the mud and its circulation system. In the direct drilling process, the bits used always scrape the formation rock and produce cutting chips. And so that the deeper the drilling, the more cutting is produced. The drilling mud circulation process generally uses the triplex single acting pump type. The choice of the type of pump is because it has several advantages, namely having a near continuous flow quality. The method used in this research is the evaluation method and the field research method with a qualitative approach in the company PT WBR (WIJAYA BANGUN RIGUTAMA), thus the calculation can be used to determine the Triplex Pump Output, determine the Pump Output Gpm, Annular Velocity and Stroke per minute (SPM). A pump capacity that is too small will cause the pump components to experience thirst, bearings will experience excessive loads, reduce component life and the sludge flow rate will decrease so that the drilling is inefficient. This research is expected to know the performance of the pump used , then find out the optimum output value of the single deting triplex pump with the main driving power , for example 1300 HP with a pump output value of 455,5 gpm. It is expected that the ability of the Triplex single acting type pump is suitable for well always in like 15000-20000 feet.
