Abstract

This study is motivated by the problems of students’ interest in learning Islamic Studies at SMPN 8 Tapung in the Academic Year 2020/2021. The signs of problems that occur in the learning process such as: the lack of students’ interest that can be seen from the lack of their confidence in expressing opinions during discussions, the students give up easily when studying, the students do not want to follow some activities at school, and the students get bored easily when participating in learning. Thus, to overcome these problems, it is suggested to build a positive family environment through the actions of paying attention, curiosity, motivation, and needs. The problem formulation of this study is whether there is an influence of family environment on students' interest in learning Islamic Studies at SMPN 8 Tapung in the Academic Year 2020/2021. The aim of this study is to investigate whether there is an influence of family environment on students’ interest in learning Islamic Studies at SMPN 8 Tapung in the Academic Year 2020/2021. The population of this study is all Muslim students in grade 7 and grade 8, with the sample of 43 students. The data collection techniques used are questionnaires and documentation. The results of this study show that the calculation of simple regression analysis is greater than 0.05, namely P = 0.0960 > 0.05, so the alternative hypothesis of this study is rejected because the significance is greater than 0.05. It can be interpreted that there is no influence of family environment on students’ interest in learning Islamic Studies at SMPN 8 Tapung. The magnitude of influence between the variable X (Family environment) and the variable Y (Interest in learning Islamic Studies) is 0.066 or 6.6%, which is included in the value range of 0.00-0.199, or in the very weak category. So, it can be concluded that the influence of family environment on students' interest in learning Islamic Studies at SMPN 8 Tapung in the Academic Year 2020/2021 is "very weak". Keywords
