Abstract

The problem of this study is the students' low understanding of Fiqh lessons in grade VIII at MTs Sabilul Muttaqin in Indragiri Hilir Regency. Learning understanding is very important in the learning process to achieve learning objectives. The method implemented by the teacher so far is only the lecture method. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to implement other methods that can stimulate the enthusiasm of students in the learning process, and one of them is by implementing the Cooperative Learning method with Mind Mapping Technique. The problem formulation of this study is whether the cooperative learning method with mind mapping technique can improve the students’ understanding of Fiqh lessons in grade VIII at MTs Sabilul Muttaqin of Indragiri Hilir Regency. This study is a Classroom Action Research with 2 (two) cycles of actions, whereas each cycle consists of 4 (four) actions, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. Based on the data analysis, it is found that the students’ understanding of learning before using the cooperative learning method with mind mapping technique is in the low category with a percentage of 42%. After using the cooperative learning method with mind mapping technique in cycle 1 (one), the students’ understanding of learning has increased by a percentage of 63% or in the moderate category. Because the value has not achieved the desired result and there are several weaknesses, then it is continued into cycle 2 (two). In this cycle, the students' understanding of learning has increased very well with a percentage of 89% or in the very high category. Because the value has reached the desired result, then the cycle is not continued to the next stage. In conclusion, the results of this study show that the implementation of cooperative learning method with mind mapping technique can improve the students' understanding of Fiqh lessons in grade VIII at MTs Sabilul Muttaqin of Indragiri Hilir regency which is included in the "Very High"� category. This can be seen from the percentage result of 89%.
