Abstract

The historic area in Bengkalis District holds various historical objects and buildings. The maintenance and management are carried out by the Regency Government, the Tourism, Youth and Sports Office and individuals (heirs). Historical objects and buildings as cultural resources are unique, rare, limited, and non-renewable. In order to protect historical objects and buildings from the threat of physical development, whether in urban, rural areas or in the water environment, management efforts are required to protect, develop and utilize them. The purpose of this study was to determine the direction of the development of historical objects and buildings in Bengkalis District. In connection with the problems raised, this study uses descriptive statistical methods and scoring methods. Data found in the field will be used as the main data to analyze the identification of the distribution of historical objects and buildings. Then analyze the inhibiting factors and supporting factors for the development of historical objects and buildings. Also analyzes directions for the development of historical objects and buildings. Based on the results of research in Bengkalis District, there are 3 historical objects and 9 historical buildings. A total of 12 historical objects and buildings are still there today in Bengkalis District. However, not all of the physical conditions in terms of the quality of objects and historical buildings in Bengkalis District are in well-maintained condition. The main inhibiting factors for the development of historical objects and buildings in Bengkalis District are the physical environment and objects and buildings. The supporting factors are physical factors of objects and buildings. Directions for the development of historical objects and buildings in the form of micro-spatial directions, namely the need for a legal umbrella for the development of historical objects and buildings in Bengkalis District and non-spatial micro development directions that can be implemented using social media for promotional activities.
