Abstract
Coffee farming in Sungai Medang village is one of the agricultural businesses and a source of income for farmers. Coffee farming is expected to be profitable and prosperous for farmers. This study aims to analyze: the characteristics of farmers and the profile of robusta coffee farming; cultivation techniques and use of robusta coffee farming production facilities; and the total cost, production, income and efficiency of robusta coffee farming. This research was conducted in Sungai Medang Village, Air Warm Timur District, Kerinci Regency, Jambi Province from June 2021 to December 2021. The method used was a survey method. Samples were selected randomly (simple random sampling) or randomly as many as 30 farmers from 120 populations. The data analysis used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The results showed: the average age of the farmer was 46 years, the education level was 10 years (SMA), 12 years experience and the number of family members was 4 people. The business profile obtained an average land area of 3 ha, the number of plants was 2253 stems/ha, the spacing used was 1.5×1.5 and 2.0×2.0. The use of production factors: urea fertilizer 130.80 kg/ha and ponska fertilizer 180 kg/ha, while the average Robusta coffee production is 373.6 kg/ha. The production cost of Robusta coffee farming in Sungai Medang Village is Rp. 4,368,124/ha/year, the use of variable costs is Rp. 4,350,199/ha/year and the use of fixed costs is Rp. 17,295/ha/year, gross income is obtained. amounting to Rp. 6,354,458/ha/year, while the net income obtained was Rp. 1,986,344/ha/year and obtained an RCR of 1.45 or a net income of Rp. 0.45 which means coffee farming in Sungai Medang Village, District Eastern Warm Water is profitable and worth working on.
