Abstract

This research was motivated by lack of students’ reading interest at Junior High School 03 Sabak Auh. It could be seen from; some of students at Junior High School 03 Sabak Auh used their leisure time for playing, it showed that they seldom went to school library. They are happier to use their leisure time at school with hang out at school cafeteria, playing, and even just to be quiet without activity in classroom, and some of them felt that reading is a hard and bored activity, besides, they should have high reading interest, because reading was very important to be an attention in learning process. This research formulation questioned that was there any influence of giving motivation from teacher on pai’s handbook reading interest at Junior High School 03 Sabak Auh Siak Regency. The purpose in this research examined to know the influence of giving motivation from teacher on pai’s handbook reading interest at Junior High School 03 Sabak Auh Siak Regency. This research used quantitative with correlational approach. The population involved class VII and VIII students at Junior High School 03 Sabak Auh and the sample was 28 students. In data collection, this research used questionnaire and documentation. The research finding showed that the hypothesis about influence of giving motivation from Islamic education teacher on handbook reading interest was accepted with significant score smaller than 0.05, where 0.000 < 0.05. the influence score 0.772 or 77.2 in range 0.60 – 7.999 classified into strong category. Meanwhile, the other 23.8% was influenced by apart from giving motivation variable. It could be predicted that when giving motivation was increased, it could give contribution to increase students’ reading interest in 0.930 or 93.0%. vice versa, reading interest will be decreased 0.930 or 93% when giving motivation was decreased by teacher.
