Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop and produce a test instrument in the form of HOTS questions on the economics subject matter of Taxation in class XI IPS SMAN 4 Pekanbaru.This type of research is research and development (Research and Development) that uses the Suryabrata development procedure which has the following steps: (1) developing test specifications, (2) writing questions, (3) reviewing questions, (4) assembling questions, ( 5) test questions, (6) item analysis, (7) selection and assembly of questions, (8) test printing. This research was conducted in April-June 2022. Data were collected from the test results of 40 students and analyzed using Anates analysis. The results showed that the HOTS assessment instrument in the form of HOTS test questions consisting of 15 multiple choice items and 5 items of description from the material, construction, and language aspects was declared valid by experts and suitable for use. Judging from the item analysis using Anates, the data obtained in the form of the results of the validation analysis of the questions as a whole were declared valid for multiple choice of 0.66 and 0.54 for description. Furthermore, the reliability of the questions as a whole is stated to be reliable for multiple choice of 0.79 and 0.70 for description. The difficulty level for multiple choice has a percentage of 13% difficult: 60% moderate: 20% easy: and 7% very easy, for 60% moderate: 40% difficult. The differentiating power of multiple choice questions is classified as very good 47%: good criteria: 27%: 6% enough and 20% bad, for descriptions/essays good criteria 80%: 20% enough. So for the distinguishing power of the questions that can be used only 13 multiple choice questions and 5 essays. When viewed from the correlation of each item, only 8 multiple choice questions and 5 essays are valid or significant. So it can be concluded that this study produced quality test questions and was declared to have met the eligibility criteria as a HOTS assessment instrument but only consisted of 8 multiple choice questions and 5 essay questions.
