Abstract

The study focouses on describing the existence of olang-olang dance in the communities of western minas (sakai) minas district of siak provience of riau. As for this method of research, it is a descriptive analysis using qualitative data. Data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects in this study number four person, either one chairman or bomo, one musician, one dancer, and one of the people. The research takes place in the village of minas west which is in the minas district of siak province of riau. The theiry used in the study of the existence of this dance is the theory of jazuli (2017:12)the existence of dance in a society and culture that pervis it not to come suddenly but through the process of space and time. Space is usually associated wth valu system, performs, and event, while time is set at the time of its creation. The data analysis techniques used in the research collect data, data reduction, and display or presentation of data, deduction is then verified. The olang-olang dance is the traditional dance of the sakai tribe that is in minas’s minas, it dates from the time of the ancients and is a tradition. This olangruns a story about the romance of heaven girl and earth boy leftbihind by her lover. Where his beloved could not the young man, the public could not bear to look.
