Abstract

Thesis of Biology Education Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education University Islamic of Riau Main Advisor : Tengku Idris, M.Pd Support Advisor : Sepita Ferazona, M.Pd ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the causes of student difficulty learning during the online learning period for biology subjects at SMA PGRI, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City, for the 2020/2021 Academic Year. Type of this research is quantitative research. The method used in this research is a survey. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires, interviews, observation sheets and documentation. This study uses a saturated sample includes all members of class X IPA and XI IPA SMA PGRI Pekanbaru as many as 60 students. The questionnaire distributed was 23 questions consisting of 2 indicators and 3 factors. Based on the results of the study, physiological factors (self) are included in the high category with a percentage of 78.86%. School environmental factors are included in the high category with a percentage of 60.70%. Family environmental factors included in the high category 64.16%. It can be concluded that the level of difficulty in learning biology for students during the online learning period in grades X and XI of SMA PGRI in 2020/2021 is high and students still have difficulty absorbing learning materials provided online.
