Abstract
ABSTRACT Linda (174110213) research on "The Effect of Palm Oil Sludge and Organic NPK Fertilizer on Production and Essential Oil Content of Red Ginger (Zingiber officinale R.)". This research has been carried out in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Jalan Kaharudin Nasution KM 11, Air Cold Village, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City. The research was carried out for 5 months starting from November 2020 - March 2021. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of the interaction of oil palm sludge and organic NPK fertilizer on the production and content of Red Ginger essential oil. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 2 factors. The first factor is Palm Oil Sludge Dose (S) consisting of 4 levels, namely: 0, 90, 180 and 270 g/plant, while the second factor is various doses of NPK fertilizer (N) which consists of 4 levels, namely: 0, 1,8, 3.6 and 5.4 g/plant. Of these two factors, there were 16 treatment combinations with 3 replications, so there were 48 experimental units. Each unit consisted of 6 plants, and 2 of them were used as sample plants, so the total number was 288 plants. Parameters observed were: plant height, number of tillers per clump, wet rhizome weight per clump, dry rhizome weight per clump, harvest index, essential oil yield and determination of essential oil quality. The results of observations from each treatment were analyzed statistically. If the calculated F is greater than the F table, then it is continued with the Advanced Test of Honest Significant Difference (BNJ) at the 5% level. The results showed that: the interaction effect of oil palm sludge and Organic NPK was significant on all growth and yield parameters. The best treatment dose of oil palm sludge is 270 g/plant and Organic NPK 5.4 g/plant (S3N3). The main effect of oil palm sludge is significant on all observation parameters. The best treatment dose was 270 g/plant (S3). The main effect of Organic NPK was significant on all observation parameters. The best treatment was the dose of Organic NPK 5.4 g/plant (N3). The quality of essential oils was better in the control treatment (S0N0) compared to 270 g/plot of sludge and 5.4 g of Organic NPK/plant (S3N3).
