Abstract

Asphalt and paraffin is the component that can damage the structure of crude oil, asphalt and paraffin will lead to increased viscosity of crude oil. Asphalt and paraffin are formed caused by the drop in pressure and temperature because of the solubility of wax in crude oil decreased accordance with the drop in pressure and temperature. MSN field is a field that has the problem of asphalt and paraffin. Wells TR-10 and TR-11 on MSN field are wells that were damaged due to the content of asphalt and paraffin, wherein the content of asphalt on TR-10 is 14.77 wt% and 8:24 wt% on TR-11, while the content of paraffin in well TR-10 amounted to 34.4% wt and well TR-11 amounted to 46.2% wt. Based on laboratory test results, the use of solvent in the form of P121 (toluene) of 600 gpt can solve the problem of asphalt and paraffin, namely the results of the Compatibility Test show that there is no deposition / coagolation of oil samples in TR-10 and TR-11 wells. Based on the Solubility Test, it shows that the final result after treatment using solvent (toluene) is zero (0) which states that there is no residual sediment from the sample. Because from the results of the solubility test, it can be seen that the sample which was previously solid due to the influence of Asphalt and Paraffin becomes liquid (dissolves) after using the solvent. And based on the Viscosity Test it can be seen that crude oil versus solvent (50:50) in TR-10 the viscosity value is from 6 cp to 3 cp, and in TR-11 the viscosity value is from 11 cp to 3 cp, which results in a lower viscosity value. so that the oil is easy to flow. The speed used in the Viscosity Test is 300 rpm. Results of monitoring after solvent treatment by injecting solvent (flowed), well TR-10 shows liquid production increased from the previous 153 BFPD to xiv Universitas Islam Riau 226 BFPD, oil production from 3 BOPD to 22 BOPD with a decrease in water cut into 90.1% from 97.9% and well TR-11 also shows liquid production increased from the previous 107 BFPD to 249 BFPD, oil production also increased from 1 BOPD to 22 BOPD with a decrease in water cut into 91.2% from the previous 99%.
