Abstract

Noise is undesirable sound that is very disturbing to sort of human activities. Noise can cause hearing disruption, even traffic accidents. Awal Bros Panam Hospital is located on Jl. HR Soebrantas panam, at the edge of highway in Pekanbaru, which is disrupted by the traffic noise activities in front of the hospital. The purpose of this study was to compare the road traffic noise disrupting the Awal Bros hospital Panam toward the permit standard of noise level for the hospitals. The method used in this research was the Bina marga method. The permit standards used for the hospital area in this study was KepMenLH No. 48 of 1996 concerning on noise levels standard. This research was conducted on hectic days and non-hectic days. The result showed that pont I obtained the highest noise level of 56,05 dBA, the lowest was 55,66 dBA, point II obtained the highest noise level of 56,31 dBA, the lowest 56,29 dBA, and the predicted noise level was at point III in front the highest initial Awal Bros Panam hospital was 56,97 dBA, the lowest was 56,66 dBA. The noise level was still below the standard quality standard for the level of noise allowed for the hospital area which was 55 dBA and given of tolerance of +3 dBA. The Awal Bros Panam hospital is still in safe standard for hospital area located in the centre city of Pekanbaru, because it does not cause noise that can disturb with the health care process for patients. In the results of the verification test by the Bina marga method and the sound level meter method, there are 2% different because the noise test using the prediction method of the Bina marga method only focussed on the traffic noise activities passing in front of the hospital. Meanwhile, by sound level meter (SLM), it can detect both noise activities caused by humans and traffic activities flow. Therefore, further research should be carried out with different hospital locations around Pekanbaru.
