Abstract

Carding is a credit card tampering with the perpetrator whose credit card number is known to be valid for use, so the perpetrator can buy goods online whose bill can be addressed to the original credit card owner, while the culprit is a carder. The purpose of this research is to find out more about the process of resolving cases in the investigation of the criminal act of carding in the jurisdiction of the Riau Police of Pekanbaru City and furthermore to find out more about the obstacles that occur in the investigation of the carding case of Pekanbaru City. While the research method is sociological research (empirical sociology) where researchers go directly to the research location to obtain the necessary data by using data collection tools in the form of interviews. The nature of this research is content analysis (content analysis) and qualitative studies, to find the meaning of the investigation as a reference in solving legal problems on the subject to be studied. Based on the results of an interview with the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (DITRESKRIMSUS) of the Riau Police of Pekanbaru City which gave positive results, the Police were given the trust by the State to enforce the law in society and were given the trust to maintain security, public order and were trusted to protect, protect the community, is obliged to prevent and resolve legal problems that arise in the community, starting from reports of criminal acts or allegations of criminal acts. With this success, the Riau Regional Police officers gave their maximum efforts to freeze the perpetrators of the carding crime in Pekanbaru, besides that not all Riau Regional Police officers were equipped with special knowledge in the internet field. The Riau regional police in conducting investigations at this time are the lack of high-tech electronic systems and the lack of professional personnel in the field of information technology.
