Abstract

The aim of the study is to investigate the influence of students’ knowledge at the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI), Islamic University of Riau (UIR) on their decision to save money in Islamic banks. The type of the study is field research with a quantitative descriptive approach. The population of the study is the active students at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Islamic University of Riau as many as 1,396 students. In determining the number of samples, the researcher used the slovin formula so that it was obtained a sample size of 93 respondents. The data sources of the study are primary data and secondary data. The data analysis technique of the study is simple linear regression analysis by using the T-test (Partial) and the Coefficient of Determination (R2) test. The results of the study show that there is a significant influence of the variable of students’ knowledge on the variable of decision to save money in Islamic banks. Based on the results of the t-test, it is known that t-score (7.979) > t-table (1.986), and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. It can be interpreted that there is a significant influence of the students’ knowledge (variable X) on their decision to save money (variable Y) partially. Meanwhile, the result of the coefficient of determination test is 41.4%. It means that the students’ knowledge influence their decision to save money in Islamic banks by 41.4%. Meanwhile, the remaining 58.6% is influenced by other variables that are not examined in this study.
