Abstract

Water is a basic need of living things in the world. Humans use water for various purposes in daily life. The current supply of clean water uses pumps to meet the water needs of the community. Pump is a tool used to move fluid from one place to another, where the pump has an important function in human life, one of the uses of the pump is to supply clean water that is used for daily needs. In the Men's Dormitory Building at the Islamic University of Riau, the pumps that are installed are often unable to transfer clean water to the reservoir above the Dormitory Building. The purpose of this final project is to determine the appropriate pump specifications for use in the UIR male dormitory building, get the volume of Ground water tanks and Roof tanks and then determine the effect of pipe diameter with headloss. In this study, analysis and calculation methods were carried out to obtain suitable pump specifications to supply the clean water needs of students who live in the Putra Islamic University Riau Dormitory Building by using theoretical equations related to pump selection. Based on the results of the analysis and calculations that have been carried out, the required water discharge is 0.00064375 m^3/ s and the total head that occurs is 29.71081 m. then the Shimizu PS-266 BIT Pump has the ability to supply clean water in this building every day to meet the needs of the residents of the dormitory, with a pipe diameter of 1 1�2 inches. The pump does not cavitate because NPSHa is available (10.0741 m) > NPSHr is required (0.89132 m).
