Abstract
This study is motivated by the problem of students’ interest in reciting the Qur'an at SMP IT Al-Fityah Pekanbaru. There are several problems during the learning process, such as: some students do not listen to the explanation given by the teachers, some students prefer to play games, chat, and disturb friends, some students are not enthusiastic in learning to recite the Qur'an, some students ask permission to go to the rest room but they go to another place behind the school, and some students are sleepy, daydreaming or not concentrating. This study aims to investigate how the strategy of the Quran teacher in increasing the students’ interest in reciting the Qur’an at SMP IT Al-Fityah Pekanbaru. This is a qualitative study with a descriptive approach. The Informants or subjects of the study are the Quran teachers at SMP IT Al-Fityah in Pekanbaru and the object of the study is the strategy of Quran teachers in increasing students’ interest in reciting the Qur’an at SMP IT Al - Fityah Pekanbaru. The data collection techniques of the study are interviews, observations, and documentation. Based on the results of the data analysis, it shows that the strategy of Quran teachers is through the QMM (Qur'an Morning Motivation) program, Close Check, Peer Tutor, group method, reward method, talaqi method, providing motivation, and clear vocals when teaching to increase the students' interest in reciting the Qur'an
