Abstract

Perception is actually formed from the process of absorbing messages received by the five senses and then processed into the human brain as information. The process of forming perceptions is influenced by the experience and cultural background and education of the person giving the response. From these factors, the experience and culture as well as the very diverse education of the audience who watched the broadcast, then emerged perceptions which were also very different from each audience. Therefore, the perception process is needed to find out the extent of the audience's interest and opinion on the program they watch. The reason for this scientific research is that students of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Riau Islamic University have the ability to assess the content of television programs that are appropriate or not a television show is used as a spectacle. This study aims to determine the perception of students of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Islamic University of Riau in watching the Liga Paranormal on Trans TV. This study uses a qualitative approach with qualitative descriptive methods and data collection techniques by using interviews with informants and documentation. Watching the Paranormal League shows that it is positive to watch and several factors that influence the results of these perceptions are caused by functional factors, namely personal factors such as individual needs, age, experience and education of a person and structural factors that come from outside a person, for example the environment around him. The theme of the story from the Liga Paranormal program can make students interested in watching this program because students pay attention to this show, there is indeed a motive, both to satisfy the curiosity of the audience and their willingness to get other knowledge related to mysticism.
