Abstract

This research was motivated by the existence of problems regarding the implementation of the School Literacy Movement (GLS) program for grade VA students at SD Negeri 146 Pekanbaru which was still relatively weak such as the availability of books that were still inadequate, some students did not read but only looked at the pictures contained in the book, and there are still students who do not follow the rules during the implementation of the School Literacy Movement (GLS). This study aims to determine the effect of the School Literacy Movement on reading interest in grade VA students at SD Negeri 146 Pekanbaru. This type of research uses a quantitative approach with an ex post facto research design. The population used in this study were all students of class VA SD Negeri 146 Pekanbaru, totaling 40 students. Sampling in this study was carried out using a total sampling technique, so the sample in this study was 40 students. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and documentation. Instrument testing uses validity and reliability. The data analysis technique uses descriptive analysis and prerequisite tests, namely normality test, hypothesis testing in the form of simple linear regression test using the conditions Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Based on the data processing of the research results with a sample of 40 students at SD Negeri 146 Pekanbaru, it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant influence between the implementation of the School Literacy Movement (GLS) on the reading interest of class VA students at SD Negeri 146 Pekanbaru. accepted, namely Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. As the total effect is 0.390 with a positive effect. This means that the better the School Literacy Movement (GLS) will affect the better students' reading interest.
