Abstract

This research was motivated by lack of students’ learning concentration at Islamic junior high school Miftahul Hidayah Pekanbaru. Learning concentration was very important in teaching and learning process because it could determine achievement and learning objectives and learning concentration should have by every students. The problem in this research explained some students were lack of concentration in learning process. The purpose in this research examined to know the educators strategies in improving students’ learning concentration in Islamic culture history at Islamic junior high school Miftahul Hidayah Pekanbaru. This research was qualitative. The subject in this research was Islamic culture history teacher at Islamic junior high school Miftahul Hidayah Pekanbaru. The data was collected by observation, interview, and documentation. This research finding could be concluded that the strategy that was done by teacher in improving students’ learning concentration in Islamic culture history at Islamic junior high school Miftahul Hidayah Pekanbaru with teacher’s readiness in teaching, warming up before beginning the lesson, encouraging conducive class condition and environment, lean and play in learning process, creating humor and intermezzo in learning to get back students’ focus, doing rotation in students’ position or in material that needed discussion and group. The supporting factors in improving students’ learning concentration such as: suitable media when discussion, conducive class, interesting method in presenting, teacher was firm and happy in teaching, giving ice breaking. Meanwhile, the obstacles factor such as: adequate facilities and infrastructure, lack of time, students broken-psychologist condition.
