Abstract
Facebook is one of the social media applications that are very much in demand, Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerbeng, a Harvard Ardley Hing School student which was launched on February 4, 2004. Facebook is able to attract the attention of users of all ages. Facebook offers various features such as status, photos, videos, stories, and even a marketplace with fellow users. The tendency to appear on social media is now mostly filled by housewives. This study aims to determine the phenomenon of using Facebook among housewives in Sorek Satu, Pangkalan Kuras District, Pelalawan Regency. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. The data from this study were obtained from various data sources in order to answer the researcher's problems, namely primary and secondary data. This study uses Alfred Schuz's phenomenological theory as the basis in making this thesis. There were 5 informants in this study. The results of this study explain the phenomenon of using Facebook among housewives in Sorek Satu Pangkalan Kuras Kabupaten Pelalawan Regency using Alfred Schuz's phenomenology which classifies motives into two parts because motive which refers to past experience, it is in the form of being unfamiliar with the social environment, photo album, and the limitations of information technology. In order motives that refer to the future, it can be in the form of self-expression, information, entertainment, online shop or business. The factors that encourage housewives to use Facebook as a gathering place, make new friends, and obtain the latest information.
