Pekanbaru: English Study Program, Education and Teacher Training Faculty, Universitas Islam Riau. Grammatical differences between American and British English are one of issues in English department FKIP-UIR. The students get confuse what kind the words in American and British English are. The students almost understand about accent English than vocabulary, because someone has a stressing vocal in communication each other. The purpose of this research is to know ability of the English Language Education students’ to distinguish between American and British in terms of grammar. This study is a qualitative research. Qualitative research aims to analyze the grammatical differences between the two varieties American and British English and expect difficulties which might to face the students as a result of this differences the sample chosen for the study the sample is a test for (42) students of sixth semester at English Language Education. Total the sixth-semester were 148 students and four classes. The result of this research showed that sixth semester students at English Language Education of Universitas Islam Riau still made questionnaire and interview about grammatical differences between American and British English. This research focused on grammatical differences, such as Articles, Verb (Present Perfect), the Subjunctive, Preposition and adjective. There are 24 questions about American and British English.
