Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this study was to determine how the opinions of students of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Riau Islamic University on the reality show "Rumah Uya" in Trans 7. The method of data analysis in this study used qualitative research to be analyzed descriptively every question asked. The population in this study were people aged 19-21 years who had watched the reality show "Rumah Uya" in Trans 7. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling technique. As for the group selected in this study, apart from the above characteristics, it is also determined based on the respondent's opinion. With the assumption that the environment around or where the individual lives is quite influential on one's outlook on life (frame of reference). The conclusion that can be drawn is that most students think that the reality show "Rumah Uya" in Trans 7 has good and bad sides, so they feel normal about the concept of entertainment that is presented. Even though this is against the culture and norms in Indonesia, they do not question it. So the authors suggest that people who act as viewers of shows provided by the media should be able to think critically in selecting the types of entertainment that exist today.
