Abstract

Analysis of Online Learning Readiness During the Covid-19 Pandemic to Extraneous Cognitive Load (ECL) in Biology Learning for Students XI MIPA at SMA Negeri 1 Pasir Penyu Academic Year 2020/2021 WINDI RISKIANTI NPM. 176510181 Thesis of Biology Education Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education University Islamic of Riau Advisor: Iffa Ichwani Putri, S.Pd., M.Pd. ABSTRACT The goal of this research is to find if there is a link between online learning readiness during the Covid-19 pandemic and Extraneous Cognitive Load (ECL) in biology learning for XI MIPA students at SMA Negeri 1 Pasir Penyu in the academic year 2020/2021. This study employs a quantitative approach with a descriptive research design. Questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation were used to collect data. The participants in this study were 69 students from SMAN 1 Pasir Penyu class XI MIPA 1 and XI MIPA 3 for the 2020/2021 academic year. The Extraneous Cognitive Load (ECL) assessment contained 39 statement items and the questionnaire for online learning preparation contained 28 statement items. According to the findings, online learning readiness in biology learning during the Covid-19 pandemic is 75,73% in the good category, while Extraneous Cognitive Load (ECL) in biology learning is 49,94% in the quite high category. For the Academic Year 2020/2021, the correlation coefficient of online learning readiness (X) to Extraneous Cognitive Load (ECL) (Y) in XI MIPA 1 and XI MIPA 3 students at SMA Negeri 1 Pasir Penyu has an interval coefficient of 0.60 – 0.799 strong category with a negative relationship, the higher the online learning readiness during the Covid-19 pandemic, The smaller the Extraneous Cognitive Load (ECL). This shows that the better readiness to online learning readiness during the Covid-19 pandemic can reduce the Extraneous Cognitive Load (ECL) of students in the learning process.
