Abstract

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS' PERCEPTIONS OF THE BUKIT TIGAPULUH NATIONAL PARK CONSERVATION AREA MITHA YULVIRIDA NPM. 176510590 Supervisor: Dr. Prima Wahyu Titisari, M.Si ABSTRACT This research aims to learn what high school students think about the Bukit Tigapuluh National Park (BTNP) protection zone. A survey method was employed. Data was gathered through the distribution of questionnaires and interviews to students. 315 students from three schools participated in this study: SMAN 1 Seberida, MA Al-Ihsan, MA Nurul Islam. The questionnaire was distributed with 38 statement items derived from three indicators. The questionnaire was constructively and empirically validated. Indicators of biodiversity conservation knowledge score 79.21%, indicators of students' understanding of conservation in BTNP score 81.31%, and indicators of student attitudes and participation in BTNP score 79.59%. The findings revealed that all indicators scored in the good category, with an average of 80.03%. According to the interview findings, respondents had a strong understanding of biodiversity and conservation, as well as a caring and responsible attitude toward the BTNP conservation area. Students' knowledge of biodiversity and conservation has a good percentage score. Students understand that TNBT is a conservation area that must be protected and preserved, and is a shared responsibility. Several respondents, however, have never visited the location to complete the learning process due to insufficient road access.
