Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP OF CONFIDENCE WITH CONSUMPTION BEHAVIOR IN ADOLESCENTS Nada Dwi Arinda 178110159 FACULTY OF PSYCHOLOGY RIAU ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY ABSTRACT Consumptive behavior is the behavior of buying goods in excess without considering the needs. Factors that influence consumptive behavior is self-confidence. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-confidence and consumptive behavior in adolescents. The research method used in this research is correlational quantitative method. The variables contained in this study are self-confidence as the independent variable and consumptive behavior as the dependent variable. This research was conducted on students in grades 1 and 2 of MAN 1 Taluk Kuantan with a sample of 100 students taken by random sampling technique. The data collection instrument used two Likert model psychological scales, namely the self-confidence scale of 28 items and the consumptive behavior scale of 38 items. The data were analyzed using Pearson Product moment correlation, where the results used a correlation coefficient value of -0.394 with a significance of 0.000. From these results it can be said that there is a negative relationship between self-confidence and consumptive behavior. This means that the higher the individual's self-confidence, the lower the consumptive behavior, and vice versa, the lower the individual's self-confidence, the higher the consumptive behavior of MAN 1 Taluk Kuantan students.
