Abstinence in the Community of Kampung Bandar Village, Senapelan District, Pekanbaru City: A Semiotic Study of Roland Barthes The problem described in this study is "what are the taboos in the community of Kampung Bandar Village, Senapelan District, Pekanbaru City? How is Roland Barthes' semiotic code in abstaining from banning the people of Kampung Bandar Village, Senapelan District, Pekanbaru City? This study aims to describe, analyze, interpret, and conclude the code of abstinence in Kampung Bandar Village, Senapelan District, Pekanbaru City. The method used in this research is descriptive method. The research approach used is a qualitative approach. The results of this study indicate that: 1) there is a classification in abstinence from the people of Kampung Bandar Village, Senapelan District, Pekanbaru City. This abstinence classification consists of 8 classifications including: abstinence from women, abstinence from girls, abstinence from men, abstinence from men and women, abstinence from adolescents, abstinence from children, abstaining from marriage, and abstinence from pregnant women . The most dominant abstinence in the community of Kampung Bandar Village, Senapelan District, Pekanbaru City is abstinence from men, women and abstinence from pregnant women. On the other hand, the least prohibition is the prohibition against marriage. Kampung Bandar Village, Senapelan District, Pekanbaru City, 2) there is a Roland Barthes semiotic code in abstinence from the people of Kampung Bandar Village, Senapelan District, Pekanbaru City. The most dominant semiotic code of Roland Barthes is the semitic code. On the other hand, the semiotic code that does not exist in the abstinence from the Kampung Bandar Village, Senapelan District, Pekanbaru City is a cultural code or reference.
