Abstract

DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM AND CULTURAL DEPARTMENTS FOR TOURISM GROUPS (POKDARWIS) IN KUANTAN TENGAH DISTRICT, KUANTAN SINGINGIREGENC The purpose of this study was to determine the development of the Tourism and Culture Service towards the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) in Kuantan Tengah District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative with data sources coming from key informants and informants. Data collection was carried out by means of interviews, observation, and documentation. All data collected were separated according to type and then analyzed in depth. The results of the study concluded that the development of the Tourism and Culture Office for the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) in Kuantan Tengah District was not fully implemented as expected. Where these results can be seen from the findings of each research indicator studied, it can be seen that the coaching work program carried out by the Tourism and Culture Office is still limited to providing training in the form of tourism management to Pokdarwis members and monitoring tourism object activities, including Pokdarwis in competitions, and there is financial assistance from the village government in supporting tourist objects. The process or implementation of guidance through the formation of pokdarwis, building various supporting facilities and infrastructure such as roads, although still limited, has provided guidance and training to Pokdawis members. The results expected from the guidance of Pokdarwis have explored various potential tourist objects, managed tourist objects, and improved the surrounding economy by involving the community in taking advantage of opportunities in developed tourism objects. Evaluation of the coaching carried out has not changed much from year to year, so coaching activities are monotonous. Â
