Abstract

Dumai City has a mangrove forest area of Bandar Bakau which is recorded with an area of 31 hectares. The Bandar Bakau Dumai area is in a very strategic location, close to the city center, the road to the location is good so access is easy and smooth, close to the Pelindo port, fishing port, and opposite Rupat Island. However, there are problems related to its development, including the lack of attention from the Dumai City Government, in this case the Youth, Sports and Tourism Office in maintaining facilities at Bandar Bakau Dumai City. The slow development of Bandar Bakau tourism by the Dumai City Government. The objective of this research is to analyze the evaluation of Bandar Bakau tourism development by the Dumai City Youth and Sports Tourism Office and its obstacles. The methods used are descriptive and qualitative methods; The informants in this study were the Head of Tourism, Managers of Bandar Bakau Dumai City, Visitor Community and Communities around Bandar Bakau Dumai City. Data collection techniques are observation and interviews. The results of the study, namely the evaluation of the development of mangrove tourism by the Department of Youth, Sports and Tourism of Dumai City, have not been carried out properly. This is due to the unavailability of cleaning facilities, the lack of cleanliness at the Bandar Bakau location, as well as incomplete facilities and infrastructure supporting cleanliness and the lack of cooperation between the government, managers, and companies in tourism development in Bandar Bakau. The inhibiting factors in evaluating the development of mangrove tourism by the Dumai City Youth Sports and Tourism Office, include awareness of cleanliness and the absence of local government authority in managing tourism due to the absence of regulations.
