Abstract

ABSTRACT THE EFFECT OF MIXING LDPE (LOW DENSITY POLY ETHILEN) PLASTIC WASTE ON THE LASTON AC-WC MATERIALS OF KAMPAR ON THE MARSHALL CHARACTERISTICS By: Khairil Anwar NPM: 183 122 014 The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing Directorate General of Highways in 2017 issued Interim Specification that type of LDPE (Low Density Poly Ethilen) plastic waste can be used as a hot mix asphalt material in the implementation in the field, but it must be known what percentage of use and types of pieces LDPE plastic waste to the weight of asphalt so that it meets Marshall characteristics both in terms of stability and resistance to asphalt deformation. This study aimed to determine the effect of adding LDPE plastic waste to the characteristics of Marshall. The test method was carried out by wet mixing and experimental testing in the laboratory using the type of LDPE plastic waste for mixing asphalt concrete layers AC-WC (Asphalt Concrete – Wearing Course). From the results of research on Marshall Characteristics testing, it shows that the most ideal use of LDPE plastic content 0%,2%,3%4%,6%,8%,10%,12% and meets the provisions of the 2018 Bina Marga Technical Specifications for mixing asphalt with 40/50 penetration asphalt type PG76 is at levels of 3%, 4% and 6% addition of LDPE plastic. However by looking at the stability value, it is recomendation to use 3% plastic content with a stability value of 2.771,2 kg, flow 3,03 mm, void in mix 4,61%, void mineral agregat 15,03%, void filled with bitumen 69,36%, Marshall quetion 784,3 kg/mm and density refusal 2,31 gr/cm3. The utilization plastic waste type of LDPE can be used as an adjunct for mixing asphalt concrete AC-WC so that it will help the Government's reduce of plastic waste
