Abstract

ABSTRACT EFFECTS OF MIXING TEMPERATURE OF AC-WC ASPHALT CONCRE TE USING KAMPAR MATERIALS WITH ADDITIONAL LDPE (LOW DENSITY POLY ETHILEN) PLASTIC WASTE ON MARSHALL CHARACTERISTICS By: Ronald Porwadi NPM : 183 122011 Roads are one of the most important means of land transportation in improving the welfare of the population. The implementation method as well as in terms of maintenance in order to obtain maximum road performance results. According to aspecial specification, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing in 2017 concluded that LDPE (Low Density Poly Ethilen) plastic waste can improve the quality of the asphalt concrete mix. This study aims to determine the effect of mixing temperature and compaction on asphalt concrete (Laston) on Marshall characteristics. The method used is the wet method, with temperature variations of 50°C, 110°C, and 150°C using modified asphalt Shell Cariphalte PG 76 pen 40/50 which later the results of this study will be compared with the Marshall Test parameters. In this study, using LDPE type of plastic waste with plastic levels used in mixing are 0%, 2%, 3%, 4%, 6%. 8%, 10%, 12%. With temperature variations of 50°C, 1 10°C, and ¡50°C. Marshall test results obtained optimum temperature 150°C with 3% plastic content with Stability 2867.2 Kg, Flow (Flow) 3.6 mm, Marshall Quotient (MQ) 789. 1 Kg/mm, Void In Mineral Aggregate (VMA) 15.20%, Void In The Mix (VIM) 4.79%, Voids Filled With Asphalt (VFA) 68.48% which meet the requirements of Highways 2018. So the stability value is better using 3% plastic content, From the results of the study, the value of Marshall characteristics on plastic mixing with the wet method tends to be higher. So that the stability value is better the use of 3% plastic content, with the use of LDPE plastic waste for mixing asphalt concrete AC-WC (Asphalt Concrete — Wearing Course) will help reduce the Government in dealing with plastic waste.
