Abstract

Human since from past has been attempted for create various product comprising from combined more from one ingredients for produce something more material strong. In the research for the final project, the analysis of flexural strength of composite materials was arecha midrib fibers (arecha catechu) with epoxy resin. The fiber used is fiber from arecha midrib and epoxy resin as the matrix. Making composite materials with printed methods from glass. Where the prepared fiber is placed on the print and poured epoxy resin according to the composition of 50% resin: 50% fiber, 60% resin: 40% fiber, 70% resin: 30% fiber. After that the material was cut to test bending with a size of 250 x 40 x 4 (mm) as many as 9 specimens. From the test results the value is obtained at 60% mix matrix with 40% fiber more strong with bending stress 59.37 N/mm. The most high bending elasticity modulus 60% matrix mixture with 40% fiber namely 80.96 N/mm. 50% matrix mixture and 50% of fiber does not achieve the expected results only reach 10.71 N/mm bending voltage and on the modulus of elasticity bending only 67 N/mm. From the test results it was found that the material can be used and applied to the automotive field.
