Pekanbaru : English Study Program, Faculty Training and Education, Universitas Islam Riau. Keywords : Heringbone technique, reading comprehension, explanation text Herringbone technique is one of technique in learning of reading that can improve the students’ enthisiastic and motivation in reading a text. In this research, many students especially the second grade students have problem and difficulty in comprehending reading text. So, this research was done to find out any whether there is significant Effect of Herringbone Technique Toward Students’ Reading Comprehension of Explanation Text on the Second Grade Students at SMAN 4 Pekanbaru. This research was an experimental research. This research was conducted at SMAN 4 Pekanbaru. The sampling is grade XI IPS 4 with total sampling was 35 students. The researcher used test as the instrument(reading test). This technique of data analysis which used was t-test from SPSS version 25 program. Based on the result of reading test it showed that the improvement from the score of t-test. The total score ot t-obtained was 6,93 was higher that level of significant ttable 5% was 0,329 while at level of significant ttable 1% was 0,424. Based on t-table, 0,329<6,93>0,424. In other word, t-obtained > t-table, it means that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternatif hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. So, it can be concluded that there was a significant Effect of Herringbone Techique Toward Students Reading Comprehension of Explanation Text on the Second Grade at SMAN 4 Pekanbaru. Herringbone technique is one of technique that has a good effect towards students’ reading comprehension
