Abstract

Seeing the high number of accidents in Riau, it is necessary to overcome and be addresse. From the data released by the Riau Regional Traffic Direct orat, the number of fatal accidents on riau traffic roads lasted until December 2018 between 1,462 human, then every day 2 people die from traffic. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship bet ween Accident Rates with Horizontal Alignment and Vertical Alignment. This research was conducted to find out more about traffic accidents on the Simpang Kayu Ara road section (STA 21 + 600 - STA 26 + 150). Stages of analysis by collecting accident data fo r the past 4 years (2016 - 2019), and traffic volume and road geometry data, were then analyzed using the accident rate method to determine the accident - prone areas. Descriptive analysis is used in this study to determine the relationship of Horizontal ali gnment with accident rates on accident characteristics and also using data collection through questionnaires distributed to road users such as truckers, motorbikes, private cars and bus drivers. After doing the research, the writer can conclude that the ca use of traffic accidents is due to road complementary buildings that do not exist along the road. Such as safety fences, traffic signs. Accidents occur not because of the geometry of the road. Geometry conditions on the Simpang Kayu Ara road segment (STA 2 1 + 600 - STA 26 + 150) Pekanbaru City. Some have fulfilled the provisions of Public Work Regulation No. 19 / PRT / M / 2011. Namely the lack of road equipment that should exist along the road.
