Abstract

Well X is a well that is included in the Pekanbaru Costal Plain Block (CPP Blok) managed by PT. Bumi Siak Pusako with state-owned PT. Pertamina Hulu Energi under the umbrella of the Joint Operations Body BOB PT. BSP-Pertamina Hulu. The formation penetrated by the drill bit consists of claystone, sandstone, limestone, and siltstone. Due to the presence of siltstone and claystone formations in this well, it will cause the problem of decreasing the penetration rate due to the clay fraction which will expand when exposed to water and will narrow the wellbore. This study aims to optimize the hydraulic system in the drilling process in well X starting from a depth of 1,660 ft – 4,240 ft with a hole diameter of 81/2 inch using the Bit Hydraulic Horse Power (BHHP) method. Evaluation is carried out to determine the pressure loss in each series and to determine the actual mud flow rate. The optimization of hydraulics at well X field Y is calculated based on the maximum pressure condition of 2050.46 psi and the optimum mud flow rate of 524 Gpm with a pump pressure on the surface of 626,863 hp so that the total flow area is 0.4223. Based on the percentage of BHHP/HPs which is 64%, then the hydraulics can be said to be good because the percentage is more than 48%. The removal of cuttings at well X field Y is seen from the Cutting Transport Ratio (Ft) in each series of pipes, which is 96% which means that it has shown the optimum price because it is more than 90%, while the value of cutting concentration in each series of pipes is 0.444 % at DP and HWDP and 0.445% at NMDC which also indicates the optimum price because the cutting concentration is more than < 5%.
