Abstract

Directional drilling is carried out on well X where the target cannot be achieved by vertical drilling due to faults. Directional well planning is not as simple and the cost is not as cheap as vertical wells due to the fact that it requires high competence to optimize the borehole trajectory to achieve the desired target. There are several important parameters for planning borehole trajectories in directional wells such as kick-off point (KOP), build-up rate (BUR), Dogleg and others. The deeper the KOP point, the greater the build-up rate because the inclination will be greater and the better the inclination in the drilling operation is less than 35o because if it is more than 35o it will make casing difficult to bend following the drilling trajectory and it causes failure because the casing will damaged and Dogleg severity is small if the change in inclination and direction is small, and vice versa if Dogleg severity is large then the change in inclination and direction is large. This study aims to determine the KOP, BUR and Dogleg planning trajectory and determine the optimal KOP and BUR values from several variations carried out and estimate the actual and planning costs based on the casing and tubing that will be used to know the effectiveness of the trajectory. The trajectory planning is done with the software compass to get several variations of KOP, BUR and Dogleg which will later be able to find out optimum KOP, BUR and cost estimates that are more economical and effective. The results obtained are that the KOP at a depth of 150 ft is the most optimal with a BUR of 3o per 100 ft with an inclination of 33o – 34o and an actual KOP of 150 ft with a BUR of 3.94o/ 100 ft with a Dogleg 2.6o/ 100 ft. will be issued for casing and tubing approximately 212425.9 USD for actual and for planning at the point of 150 ft KOP depth of approx. 213172.4
