Abstract

The occurrence of a decrease in oil production is a natural factor due to reduced energy from a reservoir so that it has an impact on the acquisition of a decrease in the resulting production flow rate. Therefore, it is necessary to increase efforts to maintain and increase the productivity of production wells. The efforts made in this study were in the form of a waterflooding project in the hope of maintaining reservoir pressure and increasing the recovery factor. However, the waterflooding carried out has several obstacles, such as the presence of water breakthrough. Therefore, to estimate the waterflooding performance in this study, the DykstraParson and Buckley Leverett methods were used. The working mechanism of this method is immiscible fluid displacement and describes the saturation behavior in radial and five-spot systems. Dykstra-Parson developed assumptions to calculate the behavior of a reservoir such as: linear flow, incompressible sliquid i.e. twophase flow in which oil is pushed by water, piston pressure on the front, each horizontal layer has the same permeability, all layers have the same porosity; initial saturation; and saturation remaining, boundary between layers not allowing for transverse flow (i.e. flow in 1 dimension from injector to producer), injection rate constant and injection velocity in front proportional to absolute permeability of layer and final value of mobility ratio. The results obtained can estimate the time of breakthrough as well as estimates of cumulative production and Recovery Factor. Based on the calculation results, it is known that in the Emerald 38 well there was a water breakthrough on the 465.82 day. The cumulative oil production obtained by the Buckley Leveret method is 1009 MSTB and the Dykstra-Parson method is 993 MSTB.
