Abstract

APPLICATION OF USING SOLVENT ON CO2 INJECTION TO REDUCE MINIMUM MISCIBILITY PRESSURE (MMP) PUJI ARTI ASTUTI 143210673 ABSTRACT In the early stages of oil production usually only relies on the natural energy of the reservoir itself. But over time the natural energy becomes weaker and no longer able to produce oil to the surface. To increase the acquisition of the remaining oil can be done by injecting CO2 gas into the reservoir. In CO2 injection Minimum Miscibility Pressure (MMP) is very important to know to determine what kind of injection method will be done. Where the CO2 injection method can be miscible done if the CO2 injected has a pressure greater than MMP. This research was conducted to determine the effect of solvent injected with CO2 gas on the reduction in MMP values. There are 6 types of solvents used namely methane, ethane, propane, butane, nitrogen and hydrogen sulfide. As for the concentration (mol percent) of the injected solvent is 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 35%, 40%, 45% and 50%. MMP determination is done by using winprop simulation contained in the CMG software. The results showed that the types of solvents that can reduce MMP are butane, propane, hydrogen sulfide and ethane. Where the mixture of butane with CO2 gas has the biggest reduction effect of MMP. The greater the mol percent of butane added, the lower the MMP produced. As well as propane and hydrogen sulfide. But for ethane a high concentration is needed in order to reduce the MMP by 35% mol ethane. While methane and nitrogen have an influence can increase the value of MMP. It was proven by the greater concentration of methane and nitrogen added, the higher the MMP produced.
