Abstract

This study aims to determine the factors that influence the interest of youth in Pulau Birandang Village in the traditional music of the Panglima Gong group, Pulau Birandang Village, Kampa District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. The theory used in this study is the theory of Crow & Crow (in Gunarto 2007: 7), which is about discussing the factors that influence interest which has three factors, namely internal factors, social motive factors and emotional factors. The research conducted is descriptive qualitative research. Data collection techniques used are in the form of observation techniques, interview techniques and documentation techniques. The data analysis technique uses data reduction, data presentation, conclusions and then verified. Subjects in this study amounted to 8 people. The results of the study of the factors that influence the interest of the youth of Pulau Birandang Village in the traditional music of the Panglima Gong group, Pulau Birandang Village, Kampa District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province, are as follows: (1) based on internal factors, namely youth who have an interest in the Panglima Gong group based on internal factors. themselves, (2) social motive factors, namely interested youths have encouragement from their parents so that they get high achievements in the form of appearances at the 2019 Dragon Boat Festival, (3) emotional factors, namely young people who are interested in having feelings or emotions that exist from themselves which makes them eager to practice.
