Abstract

This study aims to describe the form and function of the Dagung Music Performance at the Wedding Ceremony in Bantan Village, Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. The performance theory used in this paper is Edy Sedyawati (1981:60) and the function theory used by Alan P. Merrian (1964:-219-227). The method used in this study according to Iskandar (2008:1). The method used in this research is a qualitative research method which is carried out by describing or describing things related to a situation. Data collection techniques used are interview observation techniques, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the form of the Dagung Music Performance at the Wedding Ceremony in Bantan Village, Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province starting from the time it is held in the morning or evening, in the morning at 09.30 WIB to 11.30, while in the afternoon at 02.00 to 04.00 WIB, the venue for the performance in the courtyard, the performerconsists of 4 people, the audience of the show has no age limit. The function of performing corn music at a wedding ceremony in Bantan Village, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province, is as entertainment, emosinal disclosure, and cultural sustainability.
