Abstract

This study aims to describe and see the existence of the Silek Bungo tradition on Komang Island, Sentajo District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. The Silek Bungo tradition is one of the original traditions from the Kuantan Singgigi district. Silek Bungo is the art of pencak silat which is a hereditary heritage of the Kuantan Singingi people which is still displayed and preserved. Silek Bungo comes from a college under the auspices of the Batuah Warrior Silek College. This tradition is still very often displayed welcoming big events such as, Guests from the Province, welcoming the groom to go to the bride's house and Muaro Baloboh events. Grinding sugar cane makes palm sugar to make traditional foods. The formulation of the problem in this research is: How is the Silek Bungo Tradition on Komang Island, Sentajo District, Kuantan Singingi Regency? This study uses qualitative methods and the subject is 2 people as resource persons. The theory used is the UU Hamidy (2010:71) and the data collection techniques used are (1) Observation (2) Interview (3) Documentation. The conclusion from the Silek Bungo tradition is that the movements used in this Silek Bungo show have 6 types of movements, the first is the basic step, the gauang style, free stabbing, pancuang, elbow hand style, and ribbed feet. The main purpose of this Batuah warrior martial arts college is to defend oneself, in the Silek Bungo performance, it is also accompanied by a song called the song kadidi.
