Abstract

In this modern era, people are very dependent on smartphones as a means of communication. Most people consider the existence of smartphones important and even a basic need for today's society. The low level of consumer knowledge of smartphone-type electronic goods has led to rampant sales of reconditioned Iphone without a reconditioned label by business actors causing losses to consumers. The main problem in this research is how the implementation of legal protection for Iphone consumers in relation to the circulation of reconditioned Iphones in the city of Pekanbaru and how is the responsibility of business actors for the circulation of reconditioned Iphones in the city of Pekanbaru. This became the background for the adoption of scientific research with the title Legal Protection for Consumers of Iphone in Relation to the Circulation of Reconditioned Iphones in the city of Pekanbaru. This paper aims to determine the regulation regarding the circulation of reconditioned electronic products and their legal protection for consumers in the city of Pekanbaru. The research method used is an empirical research method through descriptive nature by direct research to smartphone shops in the city of Pekanbaru, as well as conducting interviews with the Industry and Trade Office of Pekanbaru City about how to monitor the circulation of reconditioned Iphones. legal issues which are further studied through a legal approach. The results of this study indicate that legal protection for reconditioned Iphone consumers in the city of Pekanbaru has not received the protection as contained in Law no. 8 of 1999 concerning consumer protection. There are still many business actors who override their obligations in running their business. Many smartphone businesses in the city of Pekanbaru still sell reconditioned Iphones without including a reconditioned label and cause losses to consumers.
