Abstract

THE INFLUENCE OF MOTIVATION ON THESIS WRITING ABILITY OF STUDENTS AT THE FACULTY OF ISLAMIC STUDIES ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY OF RIAU FITRA FEBRIANI 162410075 This study is motivated by the problems of thesis writing abilityfaced by the students atthe faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI), Islamic University of Riau (UIR). Some of the problems that exist among students of the Faculty of Islamic Studies are the lack of interest in writing activities, the difficulties to express ideas and concepts in a scientific context and the presumption of writing is hard. The solution offered to overcome this problem is to provide motivation in order to improve the thesis writing ability of students at the faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI), Islamic University of Riau (UIR). This study aims to investigate the influence of motivation on thesis writing ability of students at the faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI), Islamic University of Riau (UIR). The type of study is quantitative with a correlation approach. The sample of this study consists of 55 respondentstaken by saturated sampling because the population is less than 100.Data collection techniques used are questionnaires and documentation. Based on the results of the analysis of hypothesis test with a significant value, namely p = 0.011 <0.05, it can be interpreted that there is an influence of motivation on thesis writing ability of students at the faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI), Islamic University of Riau (UIR). The amount of influence can be seen in the summary table with an R Square value of 0.115% or 11.5%. It means that the thesis writing ability is influenced by motivation by 11.5% with very low criteria. So, it can be concluded that the results of this study show that there is an influence of motivation on thesis wring ability of students at the faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI) Islamic University of Riau (UIR).
