Abstract

The increase in population and population activities will cause changes in the expression of physical formations in a space with physical changes marked by changes in land in an area. The purpose of this research is to study the morphology of the city in the main zone of the urban area of Bengkalis District. This study aims to determine the morphology of the city in the main zone of the urban area of Bengkalis District based on aspects of land use change, road network patterns, building patterns, and morphological forms. This study uses quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis methods with analytical techniques based on image interpretations sourced from SAS Planet in 2013 and Quickbird images in 2018 which are supported by field accuracy tests by random sampling. The results showed that the level of accuracy of land use interpretation in 2013 and 2018 was 100%. Changes in land use in the main zone of the urban area of Bengkalis Sub-district have experienced significant developments that are not too visible. The pattern of buildings seen in the main zone of the urban area of Bengkalis District as a whole is a heterogeneous pattern. The expression of physical formation seen in the main zone of the urban area of Bengkalis District is an elongated morphological form, which is geographically located in a sea or coastal area with the direction of development from sea to land and following the coastline following the dominant road network having a grid road network pattern. and spinal. With the direction of its development, it is centered towards the center of the district which is in the Bengkalis City Village.
