Abstract

The large number of inhabitants has an impact on increasing the amount of waste. The pattern of waste management by involving community participation is the right decision. This study aims to formulate community participation in waste management as well as factors that are related to community participation in waste management which can later become input in waste management in Balik Alam Village. This research method uses a mix of methods, qualitative methods are used for the first target, the 1st indicator is an overview of waste management and community participation is analyzed using descriptive. quantitative methods are used for the first target in the 2nd indicator, namely community participation based on questionnaires, analyzed using simple statistics and for the second target, namely factors affecting community participation in management garbage, analyzed using multivariate analysis. The results of this study show that the percentage of community participation conditions in the waste reduction category in Balik Alam Village is 37.9% and the participation rate is moderate, the percentage of community participation conditions in the waste handling category is 36.3% and the participation rate is moderate. Factors that influence community participation in Balik Alam Village are variables of knowledge, attitudes, exposure, information media and the availability of retribution.
